Gen's Favorite Red Lipsticks
I'ts the most wonderful time of the year... Did anyone else just sing that? I absolutely love this time of year! The weather is FINALLY cooling off here in Texas, at least in the mornings. The afternoons apparently didn't get the memo that it's December already! Come on Texas! So in the spirit of the holiday season, I thought I would share some of my favorite red lipsticks. I'll rock a red lip any time of year, but if you've never tried, now is the perfect time!
Before I give you my favorite red lipsticks, let's talk about prep. I don't know about you guys, but my lips get extremely dry in the winter. If I were to apply lipstick without first exfoliating and moisturizing, they would be a hot mess! I've been using the Fresh Sugar Polish and the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy lip treatment. It makes my lips feel baby soft and leaves them so hydrated. A much more affordable (and just as effective) option is to mix brown sugar with a little coconut oil, rub that all over your lips, and wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Bye bye dry cracked lips!
Now, on to the lipsticks! The one in this photo is Urban Decay Bad Blood. I love this color because it's beautiful on all skin tones. It's the perfect true red; not too warm and not too cool. I lined her lips first with the matching lip liner, then used a lip brush to fill them in to give it a nice clean look. Another classic red is MAC's Ruby Woo. It's also a universally flattering color. A budget friendly option that I love is Revlon's Really Red. The color is so similar to these, and it's half the price! I love me a good drugstore dupe!
You really can't go wrong with any of these shades!
Lots of love,
